Dr. Morris B. Goldman at the Northwestern University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has offered to place one student in his laboratory. Information about Dr. Goldman's research is available at http://psychiatry.northwestern.edu/index.php/nu-schizophrenia-research-group/. His work is focused on two different areas in biological psychiatry:

  • Mechanisms of psychosis: in particular water imbalance in schizophrenia and its relationship to the underlying psychiatric illness

  • neural networks underlying information processing deficits in schizophrenia

The student researcher will be expected to work full time for at least ten weeks during the summer, and to submit a 10-20 page report on their research, including an abstract to be posted to our website.

Occidental College will support a student in research with Dr. Goldman. This student will receive the same stipend as on-campus researchers, but will be responsible for their own housing and food. Consequently, this opportunity is most suited for someone whose home is in the Chicago area. Interested students should stop by the URC to discuss applying for this position.
