Investigations of Head and Neck Cancer and Prostate Cancer.
Michael Lee
Project Advisor:  Dr. John Lee, Dr. Gene Shieh,
Kaiser Sunset Research Center

Research at Kaiser Sunset was conducted for eight weeks with Dr. John Lee and Dr. Gene Shieh. The eight weeks were split between gathering data using Kaiser’s computerized record system and observing the residents in their various clinics. Two studies were conducted; the first studied head and neck cancer patients whose cancer had spread to their lymph nodes (N3). The second study investigated the role of salvage radiation for prostate cancer patients who had undergone a radical prostectomy. The residents were observed in head and neck, breast cancer, and rectal clinic. This research experience was valuable; however there are several modifications to the program that would insure continued positive experiences for future researchers.
