Five years ago more than 50 planners, academics, community activists, and researchers signed an open letter about the need to find a planning director who would share the vision and have the skills to plan for a “Livable City.” That letter laid out 17 areas critical to better planning. Some, though not all of the principles and ideas identified by the Livable City letter have begun to be addressed. As the new Planning Director takes his post, we are asking individuals and organizations to be part of several opportunities to get good planning on the agenda.
Open Letter to Michael LoGrande
While the letter is general in scope, we’d like to hear your specific ideas for planning initiatives you’d like to see implemented by Mr. LoGrande. Please email your priority items to Giulia at gpasciuto@oxy.edu. Ideas will be compiled and used to inform the Q&A session and any further activities that may arise from this event.
UEPI and the Los Angeles Times are co-sponsoring a Q&A with Christopher Hawthorne, L.A. Times Urban Affairs and Architecture writer and the new LA City Planning Director, Michael LoGrande. Come early for a special interactive workshop on planning your own version of a livable Los Angeles with James Rojas.
