The Environmental Stewards program consists of two 2-credit courses: UEP 246 and 247. These classes allow students to become campus greening practitioners and to advocate for a more environmentally sustainable Occidental College. Participants learn about environmental issues that impact Occidental and apply this knowledge through on- campus projects. Past classes have served as in-dorm environmental advocates, promoted recycling and composting, urged the re-establishment of the Council for a Livable Campus, and focused attention on Occidental’s new Campus Master Plan. The course is a community-based learning course, with the campus as the community.
