Richard Rothstein

Richard Rothstein is a Research Associate of the Economic Policy Institute, based in Washington, D.C., where he works primarily on projects involving elementary and secondary education. He is best known in this field for his work to develop an inflation index for education expenditures, and to design a programmatic reporting system for school spending. At the Economic Policy Institute, he also investigates international trade and labor issues. As an Adjunct Professor of Public Policy at Occidental, he has taught the senior seminar for majors, and has supervised senior students in their creation of a "Comprehensive Project," required for graduation with a Public Policy major. Professor Rothstein is also a Contributing Editor of The American Prospect, a highly respected public policy journal, and his articles also often appear in the Los Angeles Times' Sunday Opinion section.
