Film Schedule September 4 (Tuesday): "Occupation" (44 min - Harvard's living wage campaign); and "Never Say Die" (46 min - How the tobacco industry uses its political influence) September 10: "Free Speech for Sale" (57 min - Bill Moyers PBS documentary about the role of money in American politics) and "The Road to Clean Elections" (19 min - Documentary about state-level reforms to limit money in campaigns)September 17: "With God On Our Side: George W. Bush and the Rise of the Religious Right" (100 min - Relates George Bush's story in evangelical conservatives' own words. Incorporating historical detail and interviews with religious conservatives, this film depicts the complex ways religion and politics mingle in American life) September 24: "The Great Health Care Debate" (45 min - Documentary about how the health care debate unfolded and how different interest groups sought to influence how the media covered the issue, including the use of clever paid advertising); and "Wellstone" (80 min - Documentary about the life of Paul Wellstone, the grassroots activist and radical who was elected twice to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota) October 1: "Trade Secrets" (120 min - The failure of the federal government to regulate harmful chemicals in America's workplaces and communities) October 8: "The Atomic Cafe" (86 min - An acclaimed documentary film about the beginnings of the era of nuclear warfare, including a disturbing collection of archival film - including government sponsored military training films, TV and radio programs, newsreels, and others -- designed to reassure Americans that the atomic bomb was not a threat to their safety.) -OR- "Iraq for Sale" (75 min - The story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war. It takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever.
