The Goal:  The goal of the Multicultural Summer Institute (MSI) calculus course is to introduce students to the symbolic, graphic, and real world mathematical representations. An introduction to concepts of limits, derivatives, definite and indefinite integrals.   

  1. Mathematical Framework - Students will be able to organize solutions to calculus problems in a logical, systematic, and clear format.
  2. Students Teach Themselves – Will acquire the skills to teach themselves new math concepts by utilizing the various resources (texts, websites, Occidental faculty) available to them.
  3. Familiarity with Textbook – Students will be intimately acquainted with the required text book and will be able to utilize it as a resource in the future.
