The Goal:  The goal of CSP 6: Renewable Energy Strategies and Policies in West Africa is to enable students to evaluate the technical, social, political, economic, and technical issues involved in implementing renewable energy systems in West Africa.

  1. Energy Literacy - Students will be able to quantify energy utilization for a variety of applications in appropriate units.
  2. Students Teach Themselves – Will acquire the skills to teach themselves new renewable energy concepts by utilizing the various resources (texts, websites, Occidental faculty) available to them.
  3. Familiarity with Textbook – Students will be intimately acquainted with the required text book and will be able to utilize it as a resource in the future.
  4. Technical Proposal – The final paper will be a novel proposal for a renewable energy project in a West African country.
