The Values and Vocations Project at Occidental College is a four-year project funded by the Lilly Endowment's Programs for the Theological Exploration of Vocation. The Values and Vocations Project is a College-wide project focused on the relation between human values and religious faith and meaningful work. Drawing explicitly on the College's mission of excellence in education in a diverse and multicultural setting, this project aims to encourage and support students in exploring the relationship between values and beliefs, and meaningful work or religious vocations.
The Values and Vocations Project is intended to cultivate a culture of discernment on campus within which students explore the beliefs they hold and how these beliefs shape the choices they make. Project initiatives are designed to stimulate a deeper commitment to serving the common good and, ultimately, to invite students to consider pursuing a form of religious leadership as a member of the clergy or laity.
Through the Values and Vocations Project, Occidental College will elevate consciousness of the religious diversity on campus and seek to build a stronger community as a result of engaging questions related to spiritual and religious development.
