Religion Online
History: Religion Online is moderated by William F. Fore. It came about when Fore taught at the United Theological College in Bangalore, India, during 1997. He discovered that books were almost impossible for students and professors to obtain. For example, a single copy printed in the USA cost about one-third of a professor's monthly salary. When Fore checked out religious resources on the Internet, he found that most sites only refer people to other sites. There were very few sites providing actual texts, and even fewer with scholarly material written by recognized scholars. So Religion Online was born.

Purpose: Religion Online is designed to assist teachers, scholars and general "seekers" who are interested in exploring religious issues. The aim is to develop an extensive library of resources, representing many different points of view, but all written from the perspective of sound scholarship. While the initial orientation has been to seek material written primarily from a Christian perspective, the ultimate aim is to broaden the scope to include material on all the world's major religions. http://www.religion-online.org/

INTERFAITH AND MULTIFAITH RESOURCES

Faith Communities Today
Faith Communities Today is the largest survey of congregations ever conducted in the United States. It is the most inclusive, officially sanctioned program of INTERFAITH cooperation. The project was initiated by Hartford Seminary Institute for Religion Research to enhance the capacity of participating faith groups to conduct and use congregational research. This study is intended to provide a public profile of the heart and soul of religion in America - local congregations - at the beginning of the new millennium.

This is an excellent resource - with links to any number of denominational and faith websites. Growth, conflict, worship styles - everything from "what we believe" to statistical findings to "congregations in your area" - can be found here: http://fact.hartsem.edu

Beliefnet

This website has a faith exploration tool called The Belief-O-Matic quiz. It can be found at: http://www.beliefnet.com/features/beliefomatic

If you wonder where among the world religions you fit in - or where to even start your search for spiritual meaning, this quiz can be one tool for finding out. The quiz has approximately 20 questions which you also rate according to how important the question is to you. The top score on the list emailed to you represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa. It then lists another 26 faiths in the order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking. Each faith listed has a link to a page with some information about that faith. There are also articles, prayer circles and other quizzes. This site has been tested by the United Faiths Council and has been found to be somewhat accurate and even helpful.
