About Us
The Women's Center, at Occidental College, is a unique environment serving as a residential women's center on a college campus. It is a campus residence hall housing 14 women with the goal of creating a comfortable and safe environment for those women as well as other members of the community. The house simultaneously functions as a resource center and meeting place for various campus organizations, presenting and sponsoring programs which address current issues on campus and in the community, and is open to all sophomore, junior, and senior women.
Because of the programming goals, living in the Women's Center includes a responsibility to become involved in the projects sponsored by its members. The Women that are chosen to live in the house must attend housespread each week and must also attend a semesterly retreat with all members of the house. In addition, the women are required to put on at least one program each semester. Due to the wide range of interests of the women that live here, program topics cover a wide range of subjects.
