Finding DVDs and Videos

Your library has thousands of videos and DVDs.  We don't usually have the latest releases, but we do have most of the best films ever made, many box-office hits, and a large collection of art films, documentaries, and foreign language films that would be hard to find at the local video store.

To find a specific film, use an OASys Title Search,
 
          for example: TITLE: Blade Runner

Or, BROWSE for films matching your interests using Advanced Keyword Searches:

Documentaries about immigration:	any field:      documentar* and immigra* material type: film (video)
Feature Films by Spielberg:	any field:       feature film* and Spielberg material type: film (video)
All DVDs sorted alphabetically:	any field:       dvd* material type: film (video) sort by:         alphabetical
Chinese language films:	any field:       video** language:       Chinese material type: film (video)
Comedies:	any field:       comedy material type: film (video)

* is a wildcard replacing up to 5 characters, allowing searches to include plurals and other variations on a root word. For example, immigra* matches immigrant, immigrants, immigrate, immigration, etc.

For your convenience, the following canned searches may also be helpful:

• All Documentaries: alphabetically, by date

• All Feature Films: alphabetically, by date 

• Films by Language: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish

• Films by Genre: adventure, comedy, drama, experimental, musical, horror, science fiction

Can't find what you're looking for?  Suggest additional titles for our collection. You may also wish to try the DVD rental collection available from the Student Activities Center, or from local video stores. Also, if you look up a film at the Blockbuster site, you can then click "Check My Stores" to see whether or not it is available nearby.
