Special Collections Student Assistant (Level 2)  (summer 2012)

Library location: Information Resources--Library Services, Special Collections      
Positions available:  2
Pay rate: $8.50-$9.25
Work schedule: Monday-Friday    (May 15, 2012 - August 18, 2012 )
Hours per week: 25-35
 
 
Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist Special Collections Librarian with various duties throughout the department: monitoring the reading room; assisting researchers; conducting and updating inventories; scanning and adding to digital resources, setting up exhibitions, assisting in the physical arrangement of the college archives and shelving, shifting and processing of rare books, manuscripts and archival materials.  Along with performing the various daily duties, Level 2 student staff are assigned specific projects requiring advanced skills and knowledge.

 
 
Requirements/Preferences:

Good skills in using MS Word, Excel and Office products plus interest to learn other specialized library technologies for cataloging and archiving; attention to detail a must; must be able to lift 50 lbs.  

Preferred, but not required-- art or graphic design experience; experience with digital camera,  photography and Photoshop Tools; knowledge of web tools such as Droopal.   

Students with Federal Work Study, Oxy Work Award, or International Student status preferred.
