LIBRARY MISSION

The Library supports Occidental College’s mission to provide students with a “total educational experience of the highest quality” that “prepares them for leadership” in our complex world.  We develop citizens for a democratic society and promote the diverse intellectual and cultural traditions that play a crucial role in this experience.

Our mission is to evaluate, select, collect, organize, preserve, and provide access to records of human knowledge in direct support of the College’s needs and mission.  We educate and assist in the retrieval, evaluation, and use of information leading to life-long learning.  The Library serves as an inviting place for the individual and collaborative efforts of the college community for learning, exploration, and discovery.
