All Classical Guide  The All Classical Guide site allows users to access brief biographies of composers/performers with links to information on specific works.

American Music Resource "AMR contains bibliographies, lists, Internet links and text-files covering all styles of American music and related issues."

Classical Music This site maintained by David Dickerson provides links to a number of valuable classical music Web sites.

The Classical Music Pages  "This web site provides you almost everything you need concerning classical music - its history, biographical information about composers (with portraits and short sound examples), explanations of the various musical forms and a dictionary of musical terminologies.  It is designed to be of use for everyone from "beginners" to the music professional".

Classical Net Home Page This site provides a point of entry to over 2500 sources of information about classical music, as well as links to over 2200 music related Web sites.

DW3 Classical Music Resources The Duke University Music Library provides "the most comprehensive collection of classical music resources on the Web with links to more than 1,200 non-commercial pages/sites in more than a dozen languages."

Essentials of Music Created in cooperation with W.W. Norton & Co.  This site provides background information on the various classical music genres, composers, as well as a helpful glossary of definitions of musical terminology.

Internet Resources for Music Scholars This site is maintained by the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library, Harvard University.

Music in the Public Domain "A reference site to help the ordinary person identify music and songs in the public domain."

Sibelius Academy Maintained by the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, this site provides valuable links to music publisher catalogs, music magazines, music libraries and archives, music schools and departments, music theory and research, and much more.

Solomon's Glossary of Technical Musical Terms A valuable dictionary of musical terms used in music theory and composition.

Brand Library & Art Center A truly unique facility, part of the Glendale Public Library system.  This library maintains a collection of materials entirely devoted to the visual arts and music.  Check out the history of the mansion itself, including the story of the "Ghost of Brand."

I Hear America Sing  Internet portal to the Music Division and Performing Arts collection of the Library of Congress.

Melvyl The computer based library system for all nine University of California campuses.

UCLA Music Library The UCLA Music Library maintains a "significant collection of music books, scores, disc and tape recordings, in addition to a growing collection of multimedia materials."

USC Music Library The USC Music Library "is geared toward the needs of the performing musician and music scholar."

Harmony Central Music Pages A useful resource for the musician providing information on guitars, basses, MIDI equipment, keyboards, software, and more.

Instrument Encyclopedia This Encyclopedia Database of Instruments features instruments from the Sterns' Collection at the University of Michigan.

The Music Yellow Pages An extremely helpful site that lists thousands of manufacturers and suppliers of musical instruments and equipment, which can be easily searched by category.   In addition, this site provides phone numbers and/or hyperlinks to all listings.

NIU World Music Instrument Collection An alphabetical listing of musical instruments with photos and sound samples.

The Virtual Instrument Museum displays with both visual and sound files, the impressive instrument collection at Wesleyan University.

WNUR-FM Jazz Information Server A valuable source of jazz history information, including photographs. Jazz station connected with Northwestern University.

American Musicological Society, Pacific Southwest Chapter Site of the local chapter of the American Musicological Society.

International Alliance for Women in Music "A coalition of professional composers, conductors, performers, musicologists, educators, librarians and lovers of music, men as well as women, the IAWM encourages the dissemination of music by women composers."

The National Association of Music Education This page provides links to both the national, as well as international association of music teachers.

Music Library Association, Southern California Chapter This site provides links to many of the major music collections held at local Southern California libraries.

Music Publisher's Association The site of the Music Publisher's Association of the United States, originally founded in 1895.  The site also provides the capability to perform copyright searches.

Music Teachers' Association of California  Incorporated in 1897, it is a professional organization of approximately 4,500 members with sixty branches throughout the state.

Choral Public Domain Library "The largest website devoted exclusively to free choral sheet music."

Mutopia  "All music in the Mutopia Project is free to download, print out, perform and distribute.  There are now 649 pieces of music available".

19th-Century California Sheet Music   "A virtual library of some 2,000 pieces of sheet music published in California between 1852 and 1900."  This site, maintained by Mary Kay Duggan, also provides links to several major sheet music projects sponsored by important libraries.

 The Aria Database  A vital research tool for "both singers and opera fans," providing invaluable information "concerning preparing an aria, including synopsis, range and tessitura, voice part, role, and where to find the sheet music."

California Library System Cooperative Song Index  "The California Library System Cooperative Song Index contains 145,000 song titles (mostly popular music) from 1,500 sheet music collections (song books, magazines, and other collections).  It indexes the collections of the California Library System Reference Centers and some of the libraries in the system.  It is maintained by the San Joaquin Valley Information Service."

IPA Source "Accurate word-for-word translations of songs and arias in Latin, Italian, German, and French with International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcriptions in the user-friendly PDF format."
