Italy: Rome-Studio Art/Temple


Eligibility: 2.75 GPA. Applicants must be nineteen years
old by the starting date of the program. Five studio art
courses, or a minimum of eighteen or more credits, at the
time of participation. Note that applicants are required to
submit a portfolio as part of their application.  A minimum
of one course related to Italy is required.

Dates: Fall semester late-August to mid-December
          Spring semester early-January to late-April.

Location: The Temple University Rome center, Villa Caproni.

Program Structure: This is an island program. All courses,
with the exception of Italian language, are taught in
from Temple University in Philadelphia. In keeping with the
stellar studio program at Temple’s Tyler School of Art, this
is an intensive studio program for advanced students. Media
available include: drawing, painting, printmaking, photography
and sculpture.

Academic Program:
Students enroll in Italian Language ~ 4 credits
Two studio art courses in the student’s primary medium ~ 6 credits
One studio art elective ~ 3 credit
One course in art history ~ 4credits

Students should work carefully with the academic staff
on-site to construct an academic program totaling no fewer
than sixteen credits.  A maximum of sixteen Oxy credits will
be awarded for the semester


Housing: Students are accommodated in single-study
bedrooms inside apartment-style residences. Each
apartment houses three students and includes a kitchen
in which students prepare their own meals. The kitchen
is equipped with basic cooking utensils and cleaning is
provided daily. Linens are laundered weekly.

Number of Students: Approximately 55 students in the
Undergraduate Visual Arts Program; total enrollment at
the Temple Center is approximately 200 students.
