Bolivia:
Cochabamba-Culture and Devel./ Eligibility: GPA of 2.7. Four recent semesters of college level Spanish or equivalent and the ability to follow coursework in Spanish.
Dates: Fall: 1st week in September to Mid-December. Spring: Mid-February to Late-May
Location: Cochabamba. Excursions to La Paz, Lake Titicaca, Tiwanaku and Santa Cruz.
Program Structure: This is an island program. Courses taught for program participants only by host-country professors and specialist. The program includes a significant independent study project.
Academic Program: Intensive Spanish ~ 5 credits Culture and Development Seminar ~ 5 credits Field Study Seminar ~ 2 credits Independent Study Project ~ 4 credits TOTAL OXY CREDITS: 16 Note that SIT does not allow students to take courses
on a credit/no credit basis. *Independent Study Projects (ISP) allows students to pursue a wide range of topics and examples of past projects are available in the IPO. Students must submit a copy of their ISP to the IPO no later than four weeks following the completion of the semester abroad. Tran- scripts will not be processed until the ISP is received.
Students should work carefully with the academic staff on-site to construct an academic program totaling no fewer than sixteen credits. A maximum of sixteen Oxy credits will be awarded for
the semester. Housing: Students live in a homestay in Cochabamba and during the week-long rural village experience. Other accommodations include hostels, private homes or small
hotels. Number of Students: Up to four Occidental Students.
