The
Netherlands: Amsterdam-Sexuality,
Gender and Identity/School for International
Training (SIT)
Eligibility: GPA of 2.7. Previous college level coursework
or other significant preparation in sexuality, gender and/
or identity studies required.
Dates: Fall: 1st week September – Mid-December.
Spring: 1st week February – Mid-May
Location: Amsterdam. Excursions to Berlin and London,
as well as locally.
Program Structure: This is an island program. Courses
taught for program participants only by host-country
professors and specialists. The program includes a significant
independent study project.
Academic Program:
Introduction to Dutch Language and Culture ~ 4 credits
Sexuality, Gender and Identity Seminar ~ 6 credits
Field Study Seminar ~ 2 credits
Independent Study Project ~ 4 credits
TOTAL OXY CREDITS 16
Note that SIT does not allow students to take courses
on a credit/no credit basis.
Students should work carefully with the academic staff on-site
to construct an academic program totaling no fewer than sixteen
credits. A maximum of sixteen Oxy credits will be awarded for
the semester.
Housing: Homestay.
Number of Students: Up to four Occidental Students.
Whole group approximately 20.
