Italy: Siena-History of Art
and Italian Studies/CET
Eligibility: 3.0 GPA. A minimum
of one course related to
Italy is required.
Dates: Fall: Early September – Late December
Spring: Mid-January – Early May
Location: Siena. Integrated excursions plus the Traveling
Seminar which includes Rome and Venice, among others.
Program Structure: This is an island program. The
program is designed to provide students with a broad
understanding of Italy’s artistic and cultural heritage.
All courses are taught in English by local faculty for CET
students only and incorporate excursions to local sites.
The core course, Imagery and Public Spaces in Early
Modern Italy, and Italian language study are required.
In addition, students take two elective courses at the
CET study center. For Italian language study, students
attend the Universita per Stranieri di Siena, the University
of Siena for Foreigners. For students with previous study
of Italian, content courses in Italian are offered. Non-
credit internships and independent studies are available.

Note that
CET does not allow students to take courses on
a credit/no credit basis.
Students should work carefully with the
academic staff
on-site to construct an academic program totaling no fewer
than sixteen credits. A maximum of sixteen Oxy credits will
be awarded for the semester.
Housing: Apartments with Italian and CET roommates
or homestay with a CET roommate.
