Economics  Adjunct
Occidental College

The Economics Department at Occidental College invites applications for a one-year full-time adjunct teaching position beginning in August 2011.  Experience in teaching undergraduates is a distinct asset.  Occidental College is a national liberal arts college with a broadly diverse student body and faculty.  The full-time teaching load consists of six classes spread over two semesters.  The courses are likely to include a mix of Principles of Economics and upper-division electives within the candidate's areas of teaching interest. PART-TIME, ADJUNCT FACULTY 
PHYSICS

The Department of Physics at Occidental College is seeking to fill a part-time adjunct position for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Primary duties will include teaching two lecture sections each semester of calculus-based introductory physics for non-majors.  (The Fall 2011 semester will be Mechanics, the Spring semester E & M).

Assistant Professor
 Comparative Politics

The Politics Department of Occidental College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in the field of comparative politics with a focus on Latin American Politics, Latino/a Politics, and immigration politics and policy at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the fall semester of 2012. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in the politics of Latin America (including South America, Central America, and Mexico), as well as cross-regional expertise in the areas of development, human rights, social justice, immigration, and conflict resolution as well as Latino politics in the United States. The Politics Department will consider applicants who specialize in any country or area of Latin America. The ideal candidate will have academic, policy and practical experience. We hope that the successful applicant can fit into Occidental College's strong tradition of community based learning, and we assume the successful candidate will be excellent in both teaching and research. We are looking for candidates who can offer courses on general Latin American Politics, Introduction to Comparative Politics, special courses in one or more Latin American countries, Latino/a Politics in the U.S., and immigration. A Ph.D. in political science by the time of appointment is strongly preferred.
