ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING #12-047

JOB SUMMARY
Will provide support for the Director
of Annual Giving, Associate Director of Annual Giving (Parents,
Friends, and Special Interest) and Assistant Director of Annual
Giving (Reunions, Tiger Club, and Faculty/Staff) in planning and
executing Occidental College's fundraising solicitations with
alumni, parents, employees, and friends of the College.
Recruits, trains, and directs student callers; Manages all aspects
of the Telefund program including preparation of Telefund materials,
nightly supervision of student employees, and daily tabulation of
results. Manages the Senior Class Gift Campaign including
recruiting and training senior gift committee members and develops a
strategy for committee to solicit all members of the senior class.
Recruits and supports Oxy GOLD Development committee.
Increases donors and supports Oxy GOLD Affiliate program.
Assists in writing, developing, and implementation of direct mail
and alternative methods of solicitation (e-mail) and dynamic
integration with Occidental's website.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support for the Director
of Annual Giving, Asst./Assoc. Director of Annual Giving
(Parents, Friends, and Special Interest) and Asst./Assoc.
Director of Annual Giving (Reunions, Tiger Club, and
Faculty/Staff)

Assists in planning and
implementing Annual Giving fundraising program.
Responsible for participating in all aspects of Occidental
College's fundraising program with alumni, parents, and senior
class.

Manages all aspects of the
student TeleFund including: marketing the position on campus,
conducting interviews, hiring and training a student staff of
50+ callers in the fall, 45+ callers in the spring, and 8-12
callers in the summer; manages (with the help of student
managers) six to seven calling sessions per week (23-25 calling
hours); keeps statistical data reporting of all calling
activity; evaluates caller performance; based on segmented
letters, produces calling scripts per donor group; evaluates
efficacy of the calling program and makes appropriate
adjustments when necessary; works with Director of Annual Giving
on monthly basis to evaluate progress of the calling program;
and establishes segmented and overall dollar and participation
goals for the program with consultation of consultant and
Director of Annual Giving.

Manages the Senior Class Gift
Campaign including recruiting and training committee members;
develops a strategy for committee to solicit all members of the
senior class through phone calls, e-mail, and face-to-face
encounters; conducts meetings throughout the fall and spring
semesters to manage volunteers and track progress; motivates
seniors to achieve dollar and participation goals; and highlight
the importance of the Senior Class Gift.

Serves as the liaison to the
Student Philanthropy Club. This position oversees the
management of a planning committee which organizes events,
secures guest speakers, creates printed materials, coordinates
with various departments on campus, and conducts post-event
analysis.

Assists in the development and
implementation of alternative methods of solicitation (e-mail)
and dynamic integration with Occidental's website.

Recruits, trains, and supports
alumni Class Agents for each GOLD class.

Assists in writing, design, and
developing correspondence and related materials.

Coordinates the Oxy Gold
solicitation calendars for Annual Giving with direct
coordination with the Alumni Relations Office and other College
departments.

Manages the solicitations and
marketing of the Oxy GOLD Affiliates program.

Schedules visits and telephone
conversations with assigned alumni and parent prospects to
secure current fund gifts for the College.

Handles special projects to
assist in the fundraising efforts of the Office of Annual
Giving.

Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
-
Requires a Bachelor's Degree with
experience in multi-task environment, as well as proven
communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
Supervisory experience preferred.

One to two years experience in
administrative fundraising or equivalent of education and
experience is essential.

Individual must possess
exceptional professional writing, editing, and analytical
skills; strong verbal and interpersonal skills; and an ability
to interface professionally with alumni, parents,
administration, faculty, and students. Must have the
ability to work effectively with the donor community, the
academic community, and with colleagues in a cooperative
environment.

Requires excellent goal-oriented
management skills and the ability to work professionally with
student employees and volunteers.

Superior organizational skills,
ability to work independently with minimal direction, and an
ability to work well with others is required. Must be
detail-oriented and possess a proficiency in use of database and
word processing systems. Experience working with
RuffaloCODY's CAMPUSCALL software strongly preferred.

hours (evenings and weekends required).
