Dr. Solorzano has taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 13 years, and East Los Angeles Community College for 7 years in the Chicano Studies Department. Upon receiving his PHD from UCLA, he worked as a Professional Associate for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in their Southwest field office where he directed several projects in adult literacy and teacher assessment. Before coming to Oxy, he taught as an adjunct at UCLA, Loyola Marymount University and California State University: Long Beach, Northridge. He has taught education courses ranging from teaching methods, second language acquisition theories and practices, to Chicano education and conflict in education courses. He has researched and published in the areas of “school effects," teacher & student assessment, program evaluation, bilingual education, adult literacy, and teacher standards. He has served on several school district, state and national committees & boards on adult literacy, program evaluation, and teacher assessment.
