Adjunct Professor

Dr. Castaņeda earned both her B.A. in
Speech Communication and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU, Long Beach and her Ed.D. from UCLA.
She teaches courses in second-language
acquisition, healthy inclusive schools and conflict in education.
She also supervises elementary and secondary teacher candidates and
facilitates the student teaching seminar. Dr. C (as she is known
to Oxy students) has a variety of scholarly interests, including diverse
learners and college student retention.
She is a member of the California Council
on Teacher Education, the California Association for Bilingual Education
and the International Reading Association. She is also a regular
speaker at the Chicano Youth Leadership Conference, encouraging high
school and college students to craft their life stories and complete
their educations.
Prior to coming to Oxy, Dr. C served as an
elementary school teacher, literacy coach, and bilingual coordinator for
the Los Angeles Unified School District.
