Class of 1987

Erich Marx currently lives and works in the SF Bay area for Nissan North America. He is married (Michele) and has two girls (Makenna 5 & Audrey 2.5). He is interested in hearing from Oxy classmates, but doesn't necessarily want to talk about economics. (2001)

Having worked for four years for the National Economic Institute, the last three in charge of the official economic forecast for the Icelandic economy, Kata Ólafsdóttir was forced to change jobs this year, as the National Economic Institute was closed at the end of June 2002. The last year was a stressful one as she served as the employee representative in dealing with the government in ensuring the rights of employees were honored as the institute was closing down. But now Kata has entered the banking world and works as an economic analyst for the largest commercial bank in Iceland. (2002)

Gary Skraba ('87) continues working in the financial world. He received a recent promotion to SVP - Chief Administrative Officer, in charge of marketing, human resources, training, quality assurance, and the subsidiary company at First Financial Credit Union in West Covina. Gary still lives in Pasadena and remains single, instead seemingly married to the office: any recommendations to "Get A Life" are always welcomed. (2004)

Art Smalley continues to enjoy life as a self employed consultant after leaving the international management consulting firm of McKinsey & Company. When not working Art spends time on his new hobby woodworking making cabinents, book shelves, chairs, and other items. (2005)

Anne (Arnold) Welsh completed her Ph.D. in Economics at Claremont in 1996, emphasizing corporate governance and industrial organization. After a few semesters of instructing micro at Pomona College, she made the private sector jump and took an Economic Consulting job at KPMG. She is currently Senior Manager of KPMG's Economic Consulting practice in Southern California. She and husband Tom have a daughter (6) and a son (2). (2000)
