David Goldsmith has spent nearly 30 years trying to
understand the economics of the health care industry. For the past decade
or so he has been a venture capitalist investing in early stage health
care and health care related investments. David has worked for Robertson
Stephens and Company in San Francisco for nearly twenty years watching the
firm grow from a small partnership to a major investment bank. David and
his wife Diane have a son at Pomona College and a daughter completing high
school. (2000)
Reed
Johnson recently was appointed RTI Fellow at
Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina in addition to his appointment as
Principal Economist in health and environmental economics. This theoretically
means he now has time for reflection and pursuit of interesting, abstract, and
completely impractical research ideas. Somehow it hasn't worked out that way.
All those urgent, practical problems keep getting in the way.

For two years following graduation
Gordon Paine managed a business office for Pacific Telephone
Co. and then turned to his passion, music. After earning Masters and Doctoral
degrees in choral conducting and literature from the University of Colorado, he
began a 25-year academic career at Cal State Fullerton, punctuated by
sabbaticals to perform, work, and study in Germany. He retired in 2003 and
currently lives on a hill overlooking the mouth of the Columbia River in
Astoria, Oregon with Sherry, his wife of 30 years. Contacts from old friends,
lost over the years, are welcome. (2004)
