Strong Interest
Inventory
The Strong Interest
Inventory is an instrument based on the idea that there are six types of
people and six corresponding types of work environments.
The more similar you are to the environment in which you work, the more
satisfied and productive you are likely to be.
The results are determined by comparing your likes and
dislikes with those of people of your same gender who enjoy their work in a wide range of
occupations. The Strong Interest Inventory determines your General
Occupational Themes, which are arranged around a hexagon based on the Holland
Theory.
During an initial interview,
you and a Career Counselor will determine whether the Strong Interest
Inventory is an appropriate resource. No fees are charged. The Strong Interest
Inventory is taken on a Career Development Center computer (which may need to
be scheduled in advance). This instrument takes about 45-60 minutes to
complete.
You will meet with a Career Counselor after completing
the Strong Interest Inventory for discussion of your results and implications
for career planning. You may be asked to complete an evaluation form after
using the program.
