Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an instrument based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types to explain the differences between people.  Katharine Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers expanded his theory and applied it to everyday behaviors of normal, healthy people.  The results of the instrument indicate your preferences on four scales with each scale having two opposites.  Combining your four preferences results in an overall pattern called a type.  There are sixteen possible types.

During an initial interview, you and a career counselor will determine whether Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is an appropriate resource. No fees are charged. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is taken on a Career Development Center computer (which may need to be scheduled in advance). This instrument takes about 30-45 minutes to complete.

You will need to meet with a Career Counselor after completing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for discussion of your results and implications for career planning. You may be asked to complete an evaluation form after using the program.
