PEER ADVISING FLYERS AND EMAILS

If possible, have flyers to distribute to students when you make class visits (examples below). If not possible, arrange to return to distribute the flyers, or find a trustworthy person to distribute them for you. These flyers should equal the number of students in the courses you intend to visit and should be on quarter-sized sheets of paper (in order to save trees and photocopy costs).  Flyers should include your peer advising hours, information about the location of your hours, and how to contact you via email AND the CAE telephone number (323) 259-2545.*

Please develop your own flyer and make your own copies. For ideas, ask Jerilynn for advice and use the models in the folder: S:/CAE/PA Flyers. You can access this folder from any computer connected to the Oxy network. You will need make two files, one where 4 flyers fit on a standard sheet of 8-1/2x11" paper and one file where the flyer is full-sized (see the examples on the S drive with "small" and "large" as part of the file name)  Ask the Copy Center to  copy the 4-to-a-page sheet of paper and then cut into quarters. As for the full-size flyer, ask for 10 to 15 copies to post on walls and to give to professors to post on their doors.  You should choose a pastel color or a color not so dark that it makes the print difficult to read.  BEFORE you make copies, contact Linda to approve your flyer, and to ask her for the CAE account number. Then, take your flyer to the Oxy Copy Center in Coons 120.

You should also send emails, so please view the email samples that appear below the two sample flyers.

*You may also include your telephone number, but consider whether you want students calling you in the middle of the night--it's happened.

To All Math Professors:

As finals approach, CAE math advisors can be an increasingly valuable resource for those who need to brush up on earlier materials. Calvin and I are well equipped to handle the situation. Our role is to allow the students to answer their own questions with the least amount of guidance.

Here are our hours and courses we mentor:
