As a CTSJ major, ECLS minor and would-be connoisseur of eclectic Beat generation poetry, I can aid in various stages of the writing process and contribute input from a number of perspectives. My areas of greatest strength as a writing advisor lie in formulating proposals for social reform, community action, and other proactive endeavors. The brainstorming process and other specified writing methods attributed to proposal writing tend to differ slightly from those of the typical “paper”. Also, creative writing is among my greatest passions (as is Allen Ginsberg) and I would be happy to provide insight or constructive criticism to individuals working through the sometimes muddy, thorn-laden terrain of the creative literary process. |

Hi, I’m Lauren and I’m a sophomore with interests in History and English. One of the things I most look forward to about being a writing advisor is working with students from diverse and interesting backgrounds, all with a variety of ideas and positions. Having lived in Canada, England and currently, Southern California, I feel that I can relate well to many different types of people, including international students. In my free time, I enjoy swimming for Oxy, reading, and acquiring interesting pets such as tarantulas and toads. |

Standing in at a good 5'4", this self-proclaimed beach bum has a habit of indiscriminately breaking out into song and dance mid-sentence. My name is Julia Miller and despite my predilection for midnight walks on the sand, I much prefer spending nightly hours on the ground floor of the library helping you with your papers. Currently undeclared, I have experience with UEP, Politics, Education and come armed a passion for fashion, although the latter probably won't help you much with your assignment. In any case, stop on by and I will be sure your paper doesn’t land on any worst dressed list this semester. |

My knowledge of
writing is largely intuitive rather than technical, meaning that I can usually feel out what sounds good and what works." |

Sometimes the weight of a due date, three cups of coffee, and a confusing reading can cause a writer to panic. I know there have been nights where I was convinced my prompt, computer, and printer were all conspiring against me. If you’ve ever been stressed over a midterm essay or research paper, you know by now that writing can be hard work. Step one? Take a deep breath. Luckily, there is always room for improvement if you take the time to work at it. If you need help brainstorming, developing a thesis, structuring your essay, proof reading, or you just need to talk out some ideas for your paper, I can try my best to help. When I’m not at the CAE, I enjoy photography, hanging out with friends, watching Arrested Development, and working for Steez Magazine. |
