Mentor for undergraduate research at Occidental College, over 50 students. The

        research work of these students has been funded by Occidental College, and by

        extramural grants from National Science Foundation, Mellon Foundation,

        Southwest Parks and Monument Association, Haynes Foundation, and U.S.

        Agency for International Development. Currently, I have funding from

        NSF/International Research Experience for Students to support two

        students/year to work at La Selva Biological Station (January 2006, $49,354.

        National Science Foundation/Office of International Science and Research).

Fulbright Senior Scholar, Center for Advanced Studies in Ecology and Biodiversity,

        Chile, August 2002-January 2003. In this capacity I taught a graduate seminar,

        advised graduate students, served on selection committees for Chilean students

        applying for graduate fellowships to study in the U.S., and initiated research

        collaborations.

Visiting Scientist, Biodiversity Support Group, Ministry for Tourism and the

        Environment, Namibia, February –July 2003. Provided training in field methods

        to project staff.

Dissertation Committee member for students at Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas

        del Norte, La Paz, Mexico (3 students since 2002).
